Our family is going through an unexpected crisis, and I’m hoping you might hold my sister Meghan and my 12-year-old niece Violet in your hearts. They were recently in a severe car accident after Meghan experienced a sudden seizure while driving. Their car crossed the median, hit another vehicle, and then crashed through a fence, colliding into trees. Both had to be airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Trauma Center. Violet suffered a serious femur fracture and a temporal bone fracture. She has now undergone multiple surgeries due to unexpected complications. Her injuries are complex and will require trauma-informed, long-term care, including months of healing, physical therapy, and ongoing medical support for basic daily needs. Meghan, a devoted single mother, is also undergoing medical evaluation, has lost her vehicle and driver’s license, and is unable to work while caring for Violet. A close friend has kindly set up a GoFundMe to help support them during this time. Contributions will go toward medical and rehabilitation costs, trauma care and recovery support, transportation, basic living expenses, and the many unexpected needs that arise in situations of this severity and complexity.
