Roatán is almost entirely surrounded by the world’s second largest barrier reef. Known as the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the portion around Roatán–and West End in particular–is very healthy. Not only are we lucky enough to have this incredible reef within swimming distance from The Beach House, but Roatán is also adjacent to the deep southern edge of the Cayman Trench. This provides fantastic year-round visibility and nutrient-rich waters. The waters around Roatán host a thriving ecosystem of marine life that is truly unrivaled in the Caribbean. There are a variety of options for water activities including scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, parasailing, jet skiing and many more!

If you need a bit of time off the water, there is also plenty to see and do above sea level and away from Roatán’s popular beaches. Take the time to seek out the island’s hidden corners and to explore some of its hidden luxuries by car on a full island tour. You will not only be able to see the variety of cultures on the island but you will be able to taste some of the delicious local cuisine as well. Other land activities include, horseback riding, dune buggy tours, ziplining, sloth sanctuary, iguana farm, hiking the jungle of Roatan and many more!
